it will gain power with a muffler mod , just donot go crazy on making the opening huge like on a husky , what your doing is what I see alot of so calling modders are doing and that is tighten the squish up but donot report the ports , yes tightening up the squish will gain you torque but because you lowered the transfer and ext port you will make the torque at a lower rpm in the wood , Raise your ports back up and you will gain torque and raise your in the wood rpms , On a 5100 running a 16 inch bar and 3/8's chain with you pushing some you should hold at least a 12,000 rpms in the wood , 12,400 or 12,500 is what I shoot for on a woodsport job , These saws pull pretty good and are nice and light and easy to operate , When I do vidoes I donot let the saw sit there are scream , ya it might sound good but it ain't cutting **** so how do you know what the hell the motor has for power , I know myself I would far sooner see a 10 sec cut where the motor has to work compared to a 15 second scream that really shows nothing . Like I said before yes you raise the transfers but donot go wild on them or you will have a door  stop  ;D
