Dolmar 5105
« on: March 25, 2012, 11:17:41 pm »
Saturday, Cut4fun and I were playing around with several chainsaws in big silver maple log.

I think he had a 60cc Poulan Pro 365 (?), a 60cc Poulan 3750 Tim The Toolman, and a Husky 372XP

I had a Dolmar 5105 and a 7900. To my knowledge all saws were stock.

If we had talked more about what each was taking, I would have probably taken different chainsaws as I have a Poulan 3500 much like the PP 365 as well as Husky 357, 372 ported, and 365 Special?

I ran the 50cc Dolmar 5105 in the wood and couldn't hardly tell the difference between it and the 60cc Poulans. They all had 3/8" X 20" bars. I'm sure the Poulans were faster but there wasn't enough difference for the inexperienced to even notice. Cut4fun's Poulans were running good as my 60cc Poulan.

Cut4fun wanted to run his saws more but we ran out of time.

I have often said that the skill of the sawyer is far more important in determining the amount of wood that goes in the truck in a day, than the size or speed of the saw.
You take a guy like ModifiedMark or Super3 with a 245 Poulan, give them 15 minutes to get a "cushion" built up and two guys will work their azzes off dragging off brush and loading the truck!
