Little slop (up-Down) is allowed in the rod big end. The main crank bearings should be smooth with no noticeable play in any direction.

If there are aluminum pieces in the crankcase they must be removed.

Splitting the crankcase will likely be necessary to Replace the crank bearings. This generally requires a special tool?

The rod bottom end bearing is not considered replaceable. If there is up-down play - another crank assembly is required.

It is highly probable that the seals on the crank, both flywheel and clutch side are bad.
