I don't remember if I wrote about this before or not?

A few years ago, I was interested it getting a 7900. I was going to get a used rental Makita from Home Depot and make a Dolkita 7900 out of it.

Home Depot would not cooperate. So the local Dolmar dealer offered me a new 6421 for the same price that Bailey's was selling the Makita 6421 for.

But I wanted a 7900!!! He wanted $900 something for stock 7900 .

So I went home and did a little figuring. So I got the 6421 with a 24" power point style bar.  The dealer never ran the 6421 and neither did I.

I eventually bought the 7900 piston and cylinder, the heavy duty filter kit, non cat muffler, and shorter top muffler bolt and bushing. Then I had my 7900 with a HD filter for about $900.

When converting the chainsaw, it had been run at the factory by Dolmar. The conversion was straight forward and the 7900 started right up as if nothing had been changed.

A couple weeks later, I came across a (locally) used 7900 with 24" bar for $350 so for 7900 duty I've used the old one.
