Knocked some teeth out
« on: April 14, 2013, 02:28:36 pm »
I somehow broke a spocket on my 7300. Best place to get a new 1? Its a 7 tooth. I generally run a 24" bar but I have a 36" i've never used yet. Should i think about a different sprocket. 8 tooth? Im not a saw expert lol

If you are talking about a 8 tooth rim that goes on the clutch, you can get one from the Stihl dealer over in Ashland. (M&M) They will have a 7 tooth too.

They are on the north edge of town close to where Cleveland Ave (old downtown highway 42 runs into the newer 42 outer belt. It is just beyond where 250 crosses Cleveland ave. In a remodeled bank barn just off the road. It is out by the water plant.

They are good about stocking stuff like that or any part for a Stihl.

The large rim on the Dolmar is the same as a rim sprocket on a Stihl 660 or 460.

The small hub Stihl rims are odd ball and not like other brands.

Anything more than a 28" bar over does the oiler on the 6400, 7300, 7900, or 84cc BB Dolmars. You can run a 30 fine if you are in green wood but there's just not enough oil for anything else. If you are cutting blow downs or old tree tops, you best stay with 28" max.

I've been to M&M. Its 25 mins from home. Should i stay with 7 tooth rim? If i did happen to use 36" bar i would cut my bar oil with synthetic motor oil and maybe have some1 on the other side of my cut with oil can. I watched a guy run a 36" on a 7900 last spring and we had no troubles.

I have a couple 7900's that I normally run 24" on. I run 7 tooth rims on them.

I have some husky and Stihl cookie cutters that I use a 8 tooth on.

I have a .325 Dolmar saw that runs a 8 tooth rim.

thanks for the info. .325 is that 3/8" micro or picco or whatever. Mine is 3/8 50 gauge. Will the rim on my 036 fit my dolmar? Or is it too small?

I'm 20mins south of shelby and in the barn tearing a 505 apart.

If you need a standard 7 3/8 today. Run down here and I'll hook you up with one.
