Whats better port and polish or BB?
« on: April 13, 2013, 01:26:57 pm »
A friend of mine helped with a tree last year. He was packing a ported and polished 7900. He walked right thru a big maple running a 36" bar. I was impressed which lead me to picking up my 7300. Would I be better of to go with BB or port and polished 7900 cylinder if I wanted to beef my saw up?

Go OEM 7900 topend.   OEM is under $200 last time I looked too.  $189 for 7900 kit

There's a guy in Ruggles, Ohio in North Central Ohio

and another in Franklin, Ohio between Dayton and Cincinnati.

You may want to send it to someone in another state?  Just being impartial . . .

Be careful what builder you choose.  ;)  Ask in PM if you need info.

Some like to push the very limits of a woods ported saw and some times things go bad.  This was a brand new 7900 woods port job gone bad.

Yes, he is also the one that woods ported the 7900 in pic with bent crank.

He also stole from me. PM if you want more info.

Be careful about who you have port your engine. As you can see, it can cause trouble.

My heavens what in the world happened to that thing .It either swallowed something or snagged a port and lifted the cylinder off to cause that much damage .

Geeze I've had them where the piston grenaded and didn't do that much damage .Wow!
