CS 500 EVL Oil Pump
« on: July 23, 2014, 12:44:47 pm »
Know next to nothing about Echo saws only worked on 1 and that was another 500EVL.  Oil pump isn't oiling.  IPL was helpfull showed me where and how it worked.  However, I don't see anything wrong with the pump.  Orings look good on pump.  Swapped op with one out of the other 500 still not oiling?  I did notice the plunger was longer on the one out of the other saw.  Anything I should look for on these?  Is there an installed turn on the op like bottom and turn out 1 turn for initial seting?  Fairly low hr. saw.

I would make sure the oil pick up filter is clear, not blocked.  I had a 351 that that needed three new o rings on the pump to works

Just now saw this thread.  Haven't been in the Echo section much in a while.

I haven't had the oiler apart on one of these yet.  Usual things to check are the strainer and the pickup tube.  If the strainer is plugged and/or the pickup tube has gone soft, it'll stop pumping oil.  A soft tube can collapse like a tapeworm.  Page #9 of the operators manual covers oiler adjustment.  Also make sure the oil holes in the bar and bar pad are clear.
