Echo 400
« on: October 12, 2015, 08:25:43 pm »
Trying to help a family friend with a new saw purchase to go with his bigger echo. He wants lighter and 40cc or under.

Any one know if a echo 400 will cut with the echo 3900  (have you ran both saws to know) ? Does the 400 weigh about the same etc?

Never ran a 3900, a CS400 cuts as good or better than the big name 50cc home owner  saws and weighs 13# ready to cut vs 15# to 17-1/2# for a 50cc saw. You will need to tune and muff mod to get the power out of them. Start great, run great and handle great.   Steve

I did timed cuts against a real good running 56 cc  MS290 , the CS400 lost by 1 second  17 seconds for the CS400  16 seconds for the MS290.   Steve

I have a MM CS-400 that runs good but it wouldn't cut with my MS290. But, I'd take a 400 any day over that cinder block. I flipped it and bought another saw. The CS-400 is tough to beat for a small saw.

I'm going to time it this weekend against my MS250 and PS-421.

New echo 400 to check the tune on and sharpen the chain. Guy said perfect trim saw for his needs and runs perfect to him.

Maybe a muffler mod will help these?  Dont want to touch though while he has warranty.

Anyone know off hand the max rpm on the echo 400?
Do like the air filter set up they went with.
Going to cut even better with a new loop of full chisel picco 3/8LP.
