do you mean the 'open areas' on the flange front and rear? they're just blank openings. they don't lead anywhere. figure they're for weight savings.

I put my CS5000 on the scale this morning, full ready to cut 15#  4 oz.  I also took the deflector off and screen plus that tube that come out, a big improvement as it's almost as fast as my Cs520 now.  Makes me wonder why Echo runs such clogged up muffs.   Steve

The cs-520 with an 18 inch bar running 20lpx chain is hard to beat.

Hey guys, finally joined up here, had issues a couple years back trying to register, went right through this morning, looks like a great site Kevin..........anyway, decided to revive this old cs5000 thread.......been trying to find the bore and stroke and the piston pin and pin bore specs on the cs5000, was wanting to find out if the p/c will fit on the 4500/4600 saws, any help would be great.......BTW, the bore and stroke on the 4500/4600 is 43mm x 31 mm........ ;)

Hey about time. ;)

Welcome and share that echo knowledge with us too.

There is also a 450 4500 thread here.

On the bore and stroke of a 5000.  They say its a 49.3cc saw. So to get that, 44mm bore 1.732 x 34mm stroke 1.339  is my WAG

well i went through my fiche cards, for some reason of coarse the 5000 service card or specs isn't in them, but i did find that the cranks would interchange between the 4600 and the 5000, pin brgs the same also, so the 5000 could/should have a 31mm stroke and share the same piston pin size.........looking at the 5500 specs, it shows 46mm x 33mm giving it 54.8cc, which is making me think the 5000 is 46mm x 31mm, i hope..... ???.........guess the only other thing that could come into play is whether or not the 5000 cylinder would fit down inside the 4600 crankcase..........
