echo 5000
« on: December 12, 2012, 02:16:17 pm »
Is the echo cs-5000 a newer or older echo?    Going to start digging up info to see.

Looks newer style like the 4500 I just got in.  1994 it says here. Any idea when they quit making them?

The Echo CS510 came out after the CS5000, I got a couple CS510 saws off Ebay for about $200 brand new I think around 2000 -.  2001. I'd guess the CS5000 went into the late 1990's.  The CS510- CS530 are a well built clamshell the really cuts with a muff modd, the CS5000 is a split case with not as much power but should have a lot of room for improvement with porting.   Steve

I have one of the 50cc Echo clamshell engines set up as a model airplane engine. They run as well as a Sachs-Dolmar or Mahle cylinder closed port engine. There are a couple people in the area besides me that have these set up as model airplane engines. The spark plug is a NGK BPMR6F tapered seat spark plug which is much smaller on the outside as a 7A plug. The plug is the same on the inside and fits the hole perfect without modification.

That's a CS510 or CS520 motor, it's also a closed port with nice porting.    Steve

Well, It hangs right in there with the best of the typical converted engines for model airplanes.

It pulls a 22 X 8 at 7000 rpm on the ground.

The clutch shaft is cut off just outside the seal area.

It has battery powered shielded CD ignition.

They were around $550 as shown in the picture. Chinese engines put the BME company that set them up out of business,

echo 5000 muffler modded, carb retuned.  used bar installed (worst wore bar I ever seen was on it) with 3 chains sharpened.  New 325 7  rim put on due to other one allowing drive links to wear into clutch drum.

I like this little saw.

The owner of the 5000 ask me what echo saws replaced the 5000 over the years.  I'm talking pro grade with bolt on cylinders and not clamshell ones.  Anyone know?
