If you let them rim wear too much, the chain drive links will start stick through the rim and riding on the hub. The drive links will make cavities in the hub eventually.

To show what 660 is talking about.

I know this works for the 3/8 7T rims. Dont know about all the other in 325 404 or 3/8 8T

This is the worn 3/8 7 that came off the 6700 and you can see wear the drive links were contacting the clutch drum.

mountainlake  did I read right a 8000 carb is a straight bolt on to the 6700 or is 670?  Not that I am going to do that to this stock 6700, cuts fine the way it is IMO.

Just thinking for the guys that woods port and want more carb.

I had to file a bit on the elbow the air cleaner mounts on as the choke wouldn't close.  I don't think the 8000 carb helped much as I now have a couple other 670 saws that run just as good, should help with a port job.    Steve

Just seeing if I can broaden my search on the clutch cover mainly right now and brake handle.

Is it only 6700  670 and maybe 680 that fit this saw or is there some smaller saws that might fit too?  Lot of them look the same in pics is why I am asking.

I think the studs are farther apart on the 670 than on a 520, might be the same as a 8000.  I'll check    Steve

I have a 670 clutch cover with tensioner in the cover in route. When did they start doing that on the 670 run? Mine being 6700 is in case but I'll just remove that one.

Also I'm just hitting a bad having to repair streak right now. Was getting 6700 ready for a test drive with a 20"  I put together for a buyer and dang if the right side handle to motor mount didnt break into.

Hopefully the av might be the same on 6700 670 680 and make it easier on me finding a used one.

Never mind on the av question. I see the 6700 and 670 use different av mounts in that area.
