Nice saws for the $$.  They wake up alittle with muffler modding.

I dont do the base gasket removals anymore and never did on these.  So I cant help there.

What do you do for your muffler mods. I might as well do it while its off the saw.:)

I pulled the OEM deflector and opened up the exit.

Now if you felt like doing  alot of work there is a cage inside that could be removed.   Not me though.

Here is what the inside of 6700 muffler cage looked like.  I dont see where removing cage would gain much.  By looking at the one on 6700 they seemed to flow freely.

Here is inside 6700 muffler.

Thats cool. I will open it up!
Going to order a new cylinder tonight, the old one was hiding alot of scratches under the transfer. O well, worth a try.

Thought I would give the echo 6700 some attention today on some down time. Have a new carb kit already and was just comparing to a NIB echo 8000 carb I have on hand too.

6700 HDA 76  15.08

newer 8000 HDA 63 16.66

Thought about slipping the 8000 carb on there but doubt it will make any difference in the stock saw with slightly modded muffler.

I put the 8000 carb on for chits.  Didnt even get it to fire off  :-\. So checked spark. Hmmmm yep something was wrong. I think I may have it so flooded now will try another day. Also need to pull carb again to check 8000 kit. I remember pulling it apart way back when and cant remember putting it back ready to run or not.  :-[

Yep she was flooded.

Had a 18" 20" 24" to choose from and went with 18" for test cuts buried. Ran good.
Dont know if I notice any difference with the 8000 carb but maybe there was in my mind. It's been a long time since I have ran this saw and know it was going to be needing a carb kit in the stock carb soon.
