The easiest way to tell about the 1001 is by the horizontal cylinder.  The spark plug sticks out the back rather than on the top.  The rarest one Ive seen was the 1100vl that Leeha has on AS.

That 1001 is an heirloom.  I didn't even run it this year with my recent discovery of Poulans ;).

When I was cutting with a crew knocking down and bucking up 24" + D.Fir last year it made me proud.  With an 8 pin rim on a 24" it is unstoppable.  Because you can lean on it hard in the cut it, the 272's around me could not keep up.  Or so it seemed.  Next summer I will take it out with some other vintage 6cubes and make a video.  Few have likely seen that model in action and even fewer had the thrill of running one.
