Echo cs-600p Walbro HDA-268
« on: May 26, 2013, 09:14:16 pm »
Any of you guys seeing problems with these carbs?  I have a cs-600p  that Im working on that has an air leak at the high speed nozzle causing loss of adjustment and poor idle/transition.  HDA-268 is a 'semi' fixed jet carb that still retains two adjustment screws on the side.  .058mm jet on the base of the nozzle.

Haven't run mine enough to know if there is a problem.  Trimmed tabs and MM started to adjust carb.  I did notice I was having trouble leaning out the H screw.  Reread your post.  Am having the same problem.  Haven't made time to mess with it.

I contacted Walbro.  I was told you have to replace the carb since the nozzle is not serviceable.   Im going to try to fit a cs-670 carb that uses the screen check valve (capillary seal) and see what I get.

If you strip the carb mount holes (plastic) you have to order a new tank.  I fixed that problem with the 8000 parts.  You will need two 5 x 55mm bolts Echo    90016205055 and two nuts Echo 13002019830.

Thanks for the reply.

That sucks I have 2 NIB I picked up on Ebay.  Got a smoking deal got $369 avg in them delivered.  Might not have been a good deal after all.  Both are 2012 models.  Probably have the same problem on the other one.  Haven't put fuel in it.  Did MM and trimmed tabs.  I have some other HDA carbs when I get back around to it  I'm going to look at the HDA 164 off a Poulan PP330 and HDA 144 from Husky 261/2.  Both have a larger venturi.  May be able to swap throttle shafts to make em work????????

Got to thinking about the carb.  I have some old HDA Master overhaul kits that have needle valves in them going to try a set of new needles to see what happens.  These ol kits have everything in them but the carb body and the two covers.

The air dam which holds the air cleaner sits real close to the carb, and because the HDA-268 has the fuel inlet facing the cylinder there is hardly any room to get in there.  The other larger Echo HDA carbs have their fuel inlet facing rearwards and because of this it takes a mile of fuel line or removing a piece of the air dam to fit them.  The HDA 203 from a 670 will run this 600p aok but needs to have the fast idle cam flopped over to work with the choke lever.  Both HDA 268 and HDA-203 have the 15.08mm venturi.  The throttle bore though is larger on the 203.
