Echo cs370 cylinder and piston set
« on: January 15, 2016, 12:52:37 am »
I just got my saw out for the first time this season and it was running about 3/4 throttle and then it died and now wont start. I pulled the plug and saw grey stuff on it and I knew it was a cylinder/ piston issue. I mixed the gas right because its the same gas I was using in my duplicate one and I haven't had any problems with it. I need to see what a cylinder, piston, rings and gaskets cost for it.  :(

They are pricey and not much AM stuff around.  Always worth a look on on Huztl (ebay)  they do the odd Echo part.

Online a new OEM piston is  $42  and a new cylinder is $96.  Most time you can get by with cleaning up the cylinder and I'd sure use a $42 OEM piston instead of a $25 aftermarket one.  Steve

The price I gave was from SEPW  Small engines parts warehouse, there are several online sites.  The piston comes with rings , wrist pin, bearing and circlips.  Steve

Are you sure you need a piston?  Maybe you can get away with a clean up and just a new ring?

If you can by with just a ring then you down to $5 or so.   Steve

im not sure it what it actually needs yet. I was trying to get a worst case scenario before I tore it down and didn't have the money to buy parts. all I now is is was only running about 3/4 throttle then it died. its not the gas mix because i have another saw exactly like it that im running that gas in and its fine. i got both out to use them for the first time this year and my cs4500 has no spark, one of my cs370s started after a few pulls and the other on i had the choke and use the primer bulb and it started but was kinda sluggish.
