had this dropped off at my house last night :) guy says it stumbles and misses after an hour of running. said he was sick of it and was going to buy a new saw at canadian tire ::) (only poolan and poolan husky there). i said i'll give you $75 for (jokingly) i have cash in hand. he said SOLD! :D
i threw in a new fuel filter and it runs perfectly fine. the old one had a scum on it and wasn't letting fuel through. pulled the muffler to take a look and everything is perfect. looks like a new saw inside. it's a low hour saw, about 2 years old bought at potters small engine. now, you need to know, dan potter basicly threw this guy out of his store due to the fact the guy is a prick (the customer, not dan ;)), and dan wouldn't have anything else to do with him. so i ended up with him as a "customer"
long story short, it runs excelent, cuts excelent and i'mma happy cramper. heres the saw:

the chain was shot, but it came with a new one in the box :D

wooooo wee! sorry for the delay! ;D yes the 510/520 is a good saw. and with a proper muffler mod they do really wake up quite a bit. :)
i've owned a few of these and they all went off to new homes after a "customer" ran it after thinking of buying a new stihl or a box store junker.

I know what you mean there. Lot of idiots out there that dont know any better.

Case in point. I have a like new rebuilt 1998 husky 55 with new top end rebuild 46mm open port.  Runs great IMHO. I was running 16" 3/8. Guy wanted 20" 325 so I went 7T, I put a like new oregon bar and like new chain on it for $200. Guy balked no way man I can buy a new 455 for $399 at lowes why would I pay $200 for a 14 year old saw.  LMAO I was like go buy the 455 saw at lowes. I will keep the 55 nuff said.
He was like I will buy the 455 and race you with the 55. Now I started laughing. I was like bring it any day 55 against IF you buy the 455. Matter fact I will race for pinks I told the wife laughing. WOW these young guys now days just dont have a clue.
Heck I might even break out the 45cc 346 and race him if it likes, wonder if he mind if we cold started raced too.

meh, the 455 isn't really too bad a saw. tuned properly they will last a long time and run not too bad. :) BUT!
i find it funny how people will always think right away that the newer saw will always be the fastest. truth be known, even the open port 50,51,55's will put a big stomping on them 455s'. if you grab an open port 55....... ;D they'd be balling to daddy that you weren't playing fair ;D
if that 455 ended up with a proper muffler mod the guy would think he died and went to heaven. i've done a couple and they do run alot better than stock. you notice a big difference under your left hand while bucking wood :D

One of my employees just bought a 510 at a pawn shop for $150. Have not seen it but he says it is nice and clean.  He wants me to muffler mod it and go over the saw. Not familiar with echo. Any thing I should know to look for? Any pics of how some of you did the muffler mod would be great.

You will probably need to remove the H L needle restrictors that the EPA insisted on.  Pretty easy to do, you can even put them back on after proper adjustment. They are often set lean from the dealer. ::)

Dang I'd like to race that guy for beer money.  He can run his brand spankin' new 455 and I'll run my 1984 production 154SE. :D

I have a Echo 510 model airplane engine and also a Dolmar 115 model airplane engine.

They pull the same prop at the same rpm.
