Echo cylinder
« on: November 12, 2014, 12:28:44 pm »
I have been searching for an Echo CS510 or CS520 chainsaw cylinder. I have checked eBay,  CL and all the used chainsaw parts stores that I know about. I know it is available new, but the whole saw wouldn't be worth what they are asking. Haven't had any success so I was wondering what other brand is a rebadged echo?

That was the 1st used place I checked too.  Have many in my mind and probably starting to forget them.

I have one of these complete engine units as a model airplane engine. They are a good engine. There's another in Galion and one in Bucyrus.

Cut4fin---Got my order ready. I am a very skeptical person and would like to know if this is a reputable company since I have never heard of them. My order will be over $100.
Any advise appreciated.

I just realized that the bottom of crankcase (cap) is not included. I have my cap and wanted to know if I can use it on this cylinder.
Can't imagine why it is not included!
I ask this because I am a retired Machinist and with everything I have worked with, these two parts are machined mounted together, and swapping will not work.

I know where you are coming from but from working on Stihl chainsaws, the bearing caps are not specific to a certain cylinder assembly.

With the Stihls the caps (they call them "pans") are sold individually.

I try to level the cylinders and pans on a sheet of 320 wet or dry paper on a sheet of glass.

Being as you are retaining a ball bearing, the main locating pocket is the bearing/seal recess in the cylinder unit.

Good to hear. Thanks for letting us know.

I couldnt answer your last question earlier as I have never bought anything from them to have shipped yet. But is one of my looking spots down on my list of check.
