Rented echo pole saws a couple times and was very impressed with how easy they were to start, usually started on the first pull and never more than 2 pulls.  Because of the easy starting experience with the pole saws I am considering buying a small echo chainsaw for a spare and light work, they seem reasonably priced and come with a five year warranty.

That's the most common like among these saws is the fact they seem to start very easy with little fuss.  Makes a lot of people attracted to them especially homeowners like myself.  Many people want a tool to start on demand when there ready to use it, and who wouldn't.  Homeowners for the most part, don't know how to tune a carb. or perform moderate maint. on a gas power tool.  So when the word gets out about how easy a particular brand is to start, there attracted to it.  Not real pricey either, and that helps too.  One of my buddies is in the market for a homeowner saw, and this is one of the brands I'm going to recommend.  Nothing magical about them, they just work well for there intended purpose.

Echo lists something called  "I 30 starter" on some of their saws but never say exactly what I 30 starter is, I called Echo asking about it a couple months ago but the lady I talked to didn't seem to know so she suggested I ask a dealer. Does anyone here know what a I 30 starter is ?

Yes that part Is understood but what I'd like to know is what did Echo actually do to make it start 30% easier ?  I have used Stihl saws that have some kind of spring assist which probably works great for folks that have strength problems pulling the starter but for me they are nothing but extra aggravation, I would never buy a Stihl with that setup.

The CS400 has a extra spring in the recoil which can be tossed if it goes bad,   Steve
