Picked up an 330T awhile back just to say I've owned an Echo. I used a buddys cs400 some while we worked up a tree together and seemed to be a good little limber. He said it always starts easy and dependable. I've heard both ways, that there either junk, or there very good, and not much in between. I wanted a top handle to play with limbing so I bought a used one. I'm impressed with how they start so easy, and run. It was a running turd before I opened the muffler, and reemed the intake manifold out. Got her tuned to 40:1 and its a difference between nite & day! Must of picked up 30% more power or more. Revs quicker now too. It came with a picco chain on a 16" Oregon bar. It seems alittle on the long side for this model of saw, but it sure cuts faster now, so I may leave it on there for now. So far I got nothing but good things to say about them. I'm now a Husky and an Echo fan!

I have been impressed with almost all echos I have ran but a few. The builds are on par with the others in their class. Sometimes easier to work on sometimes much harder though.

I have two Echo trimmers, both have been reliable and strong performers. I sold Echo, we never saw them back except for maintenance and operator error problems.

I have a lot of good saws, most brands but the Echos come with me a lot when cutting and yes they need to have the muff opened up and tuned to run good.. As a lot I though Echo saws were junk until I got a couple of CS510 saws off Ebay brand new for under $200 , changed my mind in a hurry. Steve

I have 5 Echos currently the largest being a CS4600 bought off CL "for parts only". It needed fresh gas and tuning only to turn it into a very nice saw. Even with the old safety chain it cuts within 2 seconds of my 353 and 350 which have slight mods to them. Not too shabby.

Come to think of it all of my Echo saws were bought off CL or the bay for parts only! The CS400 was the only one to need a lot of work to get going as it had a roached piston.

It's fun to run something different than the majority of the herd runs anyway.

I have to say that I am an Echo fan as well. I've bought and flipped quite a few off Kijiji. They usually just need fresh gas and proper tuning, sometimes fuel lines. One I bought for $35, the PO said the repair guy said the piston was done, CRAP. Piston was fine just needed proper tuning. Parts can be pricey but that because there isn't much in the way of AM stuff for them yet. If you need a new P&C then not economical to repair. Just re-pistoned a CS440 and I'm not sure I'll make anything on that one, but a useful experience.

Often they are somewhat lean. Not as lean as the box store Poulans that are usually toast when they are for sale. Although I do find the older Wildthings are usually in pretty good shape. I think the fuel lines rotting saves them from distruction. Hard to beat a $20 saw even if they don't last forever.

very happy with my two new to me 4600's which are both excellent runners now, just a good cleaning, base gasket delete and MM really woke these saws up!!

, next project is a 4500 that will be getting a cs5000 top end with the same modds.........

I ran a echo 5000 here that was bought by a guy new. Felt like any 50cc saw out there in the cuts.
