Echo Top handles
« on: January 27, 2016, 09:24:49 pm »
I have picked up a CS306 which looks great from the picture but blown engine.  The seller threw in a CS-330 which apparently is pretty rough but good P&C. Invested $20.00CDN

I already have a CS3000 runner with a badly beaten body so hopefully I can get two out of the three with parts over to sell.

The 306 is in excellent shape except some fool has straight gased it. My 3000 engine I think will fit so I'll end up with a much nicer looking saw to sell and some parts to ebay.  the cs-330t is seized and missing chainbrake and carb plus other bits and pieces so may be able to sell a part or two.  Looks like an good recoil for one.  The 306 engine maybe be OK with a new ring although Comp is down to about 75psi, but what I could see of the cylinder looks OK.

CS-330   Just digging into one of these that was thrown into a deal on another saw. pretty rough - no carb - no clutch cover/chainbrake - various bits rusty.

Saw seemed to be , not seized but vert hard to turn over - so started to pull thing apart to get the engine out - wow so many parts to take off before you can get at the engine. Finally out drop the pan and try to pull the piston out. It come all the way down to the bottom of the cylinder then stops, will not move any more? So I have the crank seals and all hanging out the bottom but the piston wont budge. What to do??

Finally got the piston out and both it and the cylinder are scored badly. so will part this one out, good recoil, coil, body parts etc. Not sad seller threw this CS330T in to the deal for $0. So on the the 306 which has no comp.  I have a rough 3000 with good engine which should swap in.  Although I will check to see if just a ring would work.  Otherwise excellent looking saw. Low hours for sure.

I've ordered a Caber ring from Greece and will give that a whirl before swapping engine from the 3000.  If that works I'll have two saws to sell.

So I ended up putting in a new piston with a Caber ring.  Put it all back together and no fire, have spark.  Have tried fuel in the plug hole yet, need to make up a small fuel bottle. Well well well,  dribbled some fuel into the plug hole and away she went!

Cool on figuring it out that far.

Just in case, I took a newer TH  saw muffler for a 271T on trade to help a guy out.    Figure either find a 271 used in future or have the 271 muffler for someone else in case they need one to modify.
