I have a 4500 on it's way to me here shortly, I'd like to look closely to see if there's any differences between the 4500 and the early 4600 cases to be a little more certain if the one piece will fit the 4500, best as I can tell, it should fit though......I'll report back when I know........... ;)

Also wanted to mention, when looking closely at the 5000 crankcase where the ignition mounts, it still has the mounting bosses for the coil used on the early two piece ignition which makes me think that echo just used the same casting from the 4500 on up to the 5000...... ;)

did the cdi box/ modual fix it? or the coil you said # 29 was the bad part...

29 is the bad part Jim.

Mine was coil.

BLACK coil under the grey part you show.  See RED wire.  ;)

Wanted to add, if I remember right, after checking part numbers for the one piece ignition module/coil for the 4600/5000, that the part number was eventually updated to being the same used on the 6700/670/680 saws, would still like to try a one piece from one of those three to confirm, but they sure do look the same, first pic are from a 4600/5000, the second for a model 6700/670/680.......if these will work, it opens up far more options to locate a coil/module for the early two piece models.

Thought I'd share......I sent in a sample 4500 piston into ebay seller "l'il red barn" about five months ago so this piston assy. could be made, I'm happy to say they are now available by them on ebay, he's sending me one free of charge for sending in my sample, I still have a 4500 waiting for this piston, so I'll be able to check out how well these pistons fit and work....
