New oil lines on echo CS-1001VL
« on: March 29, 2012, 04:02:51 pm »
My name is Jaap, I live in the Netherland. I have recently bought an Echo CS-1001VL
Both the hand pump and the automatic oiler don't give any oil. I read an earlier topic from Bob who had the same problem.
My question is how te replace the oil lines; I think that  I understand where the line from the pump to the sword has to be but I am not sure. I only see some rubbery remains of what could have been an oil line. It is located close to the oil pump on te outside.  I see a little metal tube near the pump where a line could be placed on. Could that indeed be the place where the line should be?
My second question is: Can I get the oil and fuel tank out if I take away the anti-vibration rubbers. Or should it be done in an other way?
I havent looked yet, but does the oil line in the tank desintegrate as wel?
Thank you and greetings,

Hello Plipkaka.

Am a Dutchman too. So you got the 1001 from Marktplaats right before my nose. I had a bad night missing that saw.
Are you collecting Echos or more brands?  I do only Echo, mainly the EVL series from mid eighties.
Live near Deventer.
Don't know much about the 1001, there are parts lists available on the internet.
When i see your questioning i think you have not often worked on chainsaws.
Have never seen oil lines desintegrate, mostly fuel lines and impuls lines.
Should be not too difficult finding out where lines should be attached.

Like to hear from you

Greetings Jos.

Hi Jos and cut4fun,
This morning I repaired the 1001VL. If you take away the anti-vibration rubbers the oil- and gas tank can be taken out and the oil lines are accessable.
They had indeed nearly completely vanished. Some chewing gum like substance was left  at some spots. The saw must have been unused for quit some time because the blade is still very good (And original I think). I installed two new lines and now it is giving plenty of oil. The saw has a very nice oil pump that works directly on the crankshaft. Bettter and easier to reach than the systems of Dolmar or husqvarna I think.
It is a very nice saw to work with. Bit heavy but a smoot run and a very stable feeling.
Only problem left is now that I got an electric shock two times. Where the sparkplug  lead goes out of the body the isolation has broken and I think that has to be repaired. Not a big deal.
Until now I was mostly interested in Dolmar saws. I have a 133 and a 120.  And I have a modern Shindaiwa tophandle saw. A very good saw. Easy to start and much power.
