Chainsaw Repair

Hi, mine is a model PP1250. According to my paperwork it is Feb. 1997 vintage. I replaced what was called the floating push assembly (a spring) but no change in function. (Lack of) Didn't see aything wrong with the origional anyway. I must be missing something easy? When it's apart it looks fairly staightforward with a male / female spline drive that I have relubricated such that in my opinion moves freely........Kind of a pain to disassemble and reassemble so I'm not all that enthusiastic at this point to do it again since it works fine unextended but stuff that "ain't right" keeps me up at night!!
