what airfilter? i've had some flocked ones somebody has either washed with soapy water that was too hot or a couple that somebody tried to clean with brake cleaner and slightly melted the flocking so it couldn't breathe.
airfilters are for wimps. they're nuthin but dust collectors anyway. :)

Dang you ever price a air filter for one of these under cub cadet website. Crazy $38 to $43.

Whats one for a 152 run (does a 152 filter fit the 5220) and do they come in mesh and flocked? Never mind. The  numbers are the same just different letters at beginning, so thinking af's are the same too.

see? you found one cheaper! ;D
chainsawr is selling new ones, i guess it must be 'old inventory'. either price is a good one. no more expensive than a stihl or some husky filters.

Nothing about the air filter should cause trouble, if clean. No wires to pinch off. He may however have the boot improperly installed. This will make the saw run extremely rich. Seen a few guys do this with Efco saws.

The cub cadet site scared the pizz out of me though. Thats why I was wondering about the 152 being the same.

Yes the 5220 is 152 in yellow.
Had a 385 Husky that did the same thing intake boot was **** on the bottom side.  when you put AF on it would act up. I'm assuming the weight of AF  opened crack.  New boot runs LANO.
