Efco 165 Case Split
« on: August 23, 2014, 08:11:37 am »
Split 165 yesterday NOS saw I sold.  1 tank of my fuel 32:1 cooked piston.  Bad crank bearing flywheel side.  Suprise splitter not needed came apart like our Poulans (2800, 3500,etc.).  Bearing was looser on shaft on flywheel side than clutch side.  Flywheel side slid right off shaft.  Clutch side had to use a little force.  Did use splitter on that side but didn't need to a little tap with a hammer would have been enough. Will measure crank journals today as I want to use crank in a 962 project saw.  Giving him another NOS 165 to replace it.  Probably gonna just part this one out.  Should be able to get a little more than cost back parting it.  Not worth it to me to fix it.

Yep!  Vac leak cooked piston.  Cyl is salvagable I'm pretty sure.  Was going to fix it but I'll get more out of it for parts than I would running.  Been trying to move em @ $300.00+ship.  Several bites no takers.

Split a running (I don't know why piston scored) parts 165 today had to use Husky splitter.  Makes me wonder about the new crank out of the other one.  Haven't had time to mic it.
