Remove walbro carb screw limiters
« on: February 03, 2014, 02:27:10 pm »
Dear community,

I have searched this forum and haven't found any info on the topic of this type of carb cap. I have also searched other forums but haven't found what I am looking for.

I am aware of using a dry wall screw to remove the "epa" caps but this model is more than resilient. It is on a walbro carb and I would like to remove it in a way as to reapply after correction. If I pull it I can only get it off 1-2mm. That's all. After that it just snaps in place and I could hang the saw from the limiter!
Any one an idea?

Here is a pic from the outside.

Thanks for the help!

p.s. it's about this saw

I just trim the plastic tabs of those. Using a dremel or knife.  Gives you full adjustments then.

Thanks was hoping to remove and be able to reinsert so that the possible changes are limited.

Will do a review here of the above saw soon.

Take carb off trim tabs off with razor knife in place.  You won't need to remove them.  Walbro does make a tool for pulling them.  I have the tool but never use it. Tool has two little pins that go in the little round holes to locate tool and hooks under the stops to pull against the stops.  After trimming stops tool is rendered useless nothing to pull against.  Just did 3 of those carbs recently.  HDA160 IIRC.  CS56, 156, 962, 162, 165 use the same carb.

Fedex just dropped off a real nice 962.  Piston is scored.  Got a WP 162 P&C may drop it on it after I find out why it scored.  Was going to put it on a 156 with a 165 crank for a lighter 165.  I think the 962 has a dual port cyl. where the 162 is quad port.  I'll know tomorrow.

Thanks for the info! But too late. After a few days trying to yank the tabs off with major force I simply gave up and ground off half of the tabs with my dremel clone. I adjusted the carb to H 13200 and L to 2700.

Pulled cyl on 962 this afternoon.  It was as I suspected dual port not quad port.
