Foredom compatable handpieces for sale.
« on: July 14, 2014, 03:59:21 pm »
I have #30 style handpieces and these slim ones for sale.
The #30 ones are blue printed Chinese models, they will no longer get hot.  They come with a chuck key for $18.
The slim ones are a pencil grinder attachment for a dremel that have been adapted to work with the Foredom style cable drive and come with 3 collets and wrench set for $25.
Shipping will be in a flat rate small box $5.80.

Also I am thinking about making these contra angles if there is enough interest.  The cost will be $117 for the adapter and $18 for the dental head.  The dental head is smaller than the CC handpiece, along with the contra angle I find it easier to use in small saws.  It allows you to get the transfer ports entrance on the intake side very wide without having to use the tip of the burr or a different handpiece.   I will try to keep the dental heads in stock in case someone needs one in a hurry.

I've been testing the prototype for about a year and I haven't broken a head yet.  The head slips if you jam a burr so it saves the internal gears.  So far I've only managed to slip it with large 1/4" diameter aggressive burrs.  Like the one below.

They use a 3/32" latch style burr, which I will offer a service to grind 1/8" burrs down to size for $5.  Once again I will try to keep some of my favorite burrs in stock so I can quickly get them to people, I will pass them along for the price I get them plus the service fee.  Usually the burrs I use cost $8-15 for carbide and $22-25 for diamond points.

Those straight hand pieces he sells are great for the price. I had one that didn't come from him and it got hot quickly.

I am interested in one of the angle pieces you have.   What are the differences and what kind of burr do they take.   I will be using it on a foredom flex shaft.

They take a 3/32" shaft latch burr.  They have a retaining groove and a drive shoulder cut into them.  The selection for carbide is pretty slim in 3/32" shafts, even worse for latch style.  That is why I neck down the shafts of 1/8" shaft burrs and cut the retaining groove and drive shoulder onto them.

This is a sketch of a latch burr.

Guess I'll show her the 90 and see if she has a use. She has to go inside the pumpkins sometimes to thin from the inside.

I haven't made anymore yet.  I'm having troubles with taking the drive flange out of the cartridge in the dental head.  They seem to only last 2 saws or so before the the bur shaft eats the drive flange out.  Good news is the cartridges are really cheap, around $7-8.

It's too bad because I really like the feel and control of the contra angle, chatter is much less than a straight 90 deg handpiece.  I wish I could find a dental head with a collet instead of the latch.

Showed wife the 90 and other one your doing.  She dont think she has a use for that being she is not working in tight spots like inside a cylinder.   She can reach her hand inside where she works inside.
