Chainsaw Repair

I defense of "that other site" (if I'm thinking of the same one you guys are): my understanding was that you could post about suppliers other than sponsors if th einformation was to help a member, and if you were not employed by or posting on behalf of that sponsor.  I've never been "spanked" for mentioning Labonville, and even posting a link to a video or a part on their site, even though they are competitors with a site sponsor. I've also put up other links and mentoned sites. The worst that has ever happened is that I was asked if I worked for, or had some other connection to, the site I mentioned.

I realize this doesn't help those of you running small businesses who wish to advertise, but even then I've seen posts where someone says "I can fix that for you" or "send me a PM and I'll hook you up with a part".

If what it takes for them to run that site is to accept money from sponsors and put on some restrictions, that's fine with me. It's their site, and they can do what they want with it. If the restrictions get to be too much of a pain in the neck, I'll stop going there.

Having said all that, I am very grateful to Kevin for investing the time to make this site go, and for encouraging a free and open exchange of information.  I'm not on here as frequently as I'd like to be, but when I need good info, I know this is the place to go.  The overall tone here is nice also: You don't see the pissing matches that crop up on so many other sites, or a few members trying to out-macho everyone else or jump down the throat of anyone who dares to post an alternate opinion.  I don't know how you manage to keep things on such an even keel, but it's a welcome change from so much of what is out there on other sites.
