Bar and Chain for a 1050 Automatic-And I'm a Newbie
« on: October 10, 2012, 07:05:52 pm »
I've just inherited a 1050 from my BIL. We decided that we'd try to do a little milling with it. I'm looking for the proper bar and chain to fit the saw without shimming. I'd like something around the 30"- 36" range. Anyone have one laying around that would work on an Alaskan Mill they'd like to part with? If you do, send me a PM please.

I see there a few FF members on this site. Already know who Al is, and I see Cut4Fun is the administer here.

Thanks for letting me in. Sites like this kinda remind me of when I was younger and used to go bar-hopping. It seemed no matter where you went, you ran into friends.

So Cheers to Ya'll!!!

Yeah that bar hopping was fun at the time or at least I thought it was .The Ohio state patrol kind of put the stops to that but on the other hand I kinda figured I'd done more than my share any way . ;)

I can't remember if I submitted a post or even what forum it was on .On that style of Homelite bars would be rare to find .One solution is to use a bar mount for an 066 sized Stihl .As I type Baileys logging has 36" Windsor bars on sale in 36" .063 .375 for $42.99 .

I usually run a 36" Windsor Stihl mount .404 on that big 2100 Homelite in my avatar .I'm pretty sure it's the same size mount for those two large Homelites .You'll have to either made adaptors or modify the ones Baileys sells and enlarge the bar tightening hole but they work real well .The homemade adaptors are merely like tight fitting thick washers to take the bar studs from 3/8" to 12 mm bar slot size .
Fact I just might have an extra set of adaptors in one of my tool boxes .I made up a bunch of them at one time but gave most of them away .
