Homelite 45cc Timberman
« on: May 31, 2012, 09:11:09 pm »
I have a couple Homelite 45cc chainsaws. The one I used today has a black top cover. The other, newer one, is only about 8 years old and has a red top cover. Neither looks like the current Homelites. Both are plastic chainsaws.

The daughter in law wanted me to dispose of a long skid that looked to be 16' long. I think barn roofing steel came on it?

So I grabbed up the Homelite that was nearby to cut it up into three regular skids with some boards left over.

Now I am used to Husky 346's and 372's.

The 13 year old Homelite, which stihl looks like new, started right up. 3 pulls full choke and 2 pulls half choke and away it went which is pretty good considering it had last year this time gas in it. This one has a 20" X .325 B & C. Never had anything done to it.

Sounded like it was only running half throttle after being accustomed to the other saws?

Anyway, it cut just fine and quickly I had three regular skids instead of one giant one. Cannot complain.

Last year this time, I had cleaned it all up and sharpened the chain. It had not been used since.

These pictures were taken in 2004

This is the old one that I like the best. It has the carb bolted to the engine with a plastic insulating block.

I didn't use this one but it runs good too. This one has a rubber boot on the carb, it stays on the back of the Rhino 4 wheeler
