Some of those old saws really didn't have what is considered a muffler .It was just a short stack on the exhaust.

As far as ear splitters I probabley have one of the loudest .70 cc McCulloch model 6-10 with a completely gutted muffler that will free run tach over 15,000 RPM .It's loud enough to raise the dead and make hounds howl .
