It's getting bar oil some way or another

I hate the lines on this thing and the manual is not very clear.  I have another one but I was hoping to not have to take them both apart.

I did that once (mixed up the lines).  Smoked like a bug fogger.  Does your saw have the diaphragm/piston oil pump, or only the pressurized oil tank?

sounds like a valve that's leaking chain-oil ::)

Have a go on running it without chainoil  ;D

If I'm not mistaken they use a pressurized oil tank with a duckbill type check valve which is probabley not functioning .

Early saws had a pressurized oil tank that feeds a diaphragm oil pump.  Later saws have only the pressurized oil tank.

I too thought it was the oiler......On my XL-2 when I put a new diaphragm in the carb.      The setting was off. It seemed to not shut off the fuel. It ran super rich fuel and oil would not rev up all that well and smoke like crazy. I reset the diaphragm and it strarted to work OK.

I'm going into it soon and we will see just why its smoking.

It was really bad when I started it yesterday,  I don't think its fuel, it left a cloud in the air and that cloud moved across the field like a ghost and could be seen minutes after.  I'm sure its oil.

by the way it has the pressurized system and diaphragm.   I was surprised to see that as my lx 30 only has a pressurized system.  Also it has no duckbill valve and its just a little brass nozzle in the end.
