Husqvarna 141 LE chain won't adjust.
« on: May 25, 2020, 12:11:58 pm »
I have a 2004 141 LE and  for some reason I just can't get the chain to adjust properly. It will either be to tight after trying to adjust (won't spin by hand or running) or to loose when it will spin. I have replaced the clutch assembly/clutch drum assembly/chain brake assembly, and the guide bar & chain are new. The guide bar is 16 inches and  info on bar is .325/050, I verified by the paperwork that the guide bar (Husqvarna HLN 250-66) shows it will fit the 141 but I'm wondering if I might have the wrong chain? At the bottom of chain link the numbers read 33 and I did notice on the Lowe's website that some Husqvarna chains for 16 inch chainsaws only fit certain model. Am I missing something here or could it be something internal on chainsaw, thanks for any help.

You might want to look at your PTO side bearing.
I've seen it before. Run tight to loose and throws chains.
Good luck,   Fred

Original should have been 3/8 low pro bar chain

I'd bet on a 3/8LP picco spur drum and he is trying to put that 325 on it. Would do such as you describe.  Check your spur drive on clutch drum to be sure matches your bar and chain.

I bought the clutch drum assembly from Husqvarna website (SKU: 530047061) thinking this was the problem. Stupid question but I need to ask, how do I check to see if spur drive on clutch drum matches bar and chain?
Sorry, kind of new at this.

530047061 is a 3/8 low profile spur sprocket
The bar HLN 20-66 is .325 pitch
You didn't post chain manufacturer and number.

The sprocket , bar and chain need to match pitch and gauge.

Manufacturer (chain) was Husqvarna, bought from Lowes,  don't have orginal package but number 33 on bottom chain link.

This maybe?  https://www.husqvarna.com/us/accessories/chainsaw-chains/x-cut-sp33g/581643601/

But that is your issue.  Need 325 rim or spur or 3/8LP b+c to go with new clutch drum you have

Pretty sure this clutch drum from poulan 295 is 325. Chain was smooth running over by hand compared to the picco 3/8LP chain.

Dont see any markings for # but oem poulan craftsman far as I can tell.

Clutch bearing is still in it and didnt pop out when tried.  But felt good on the crankshaft spinning.
