Husqvarna 334 335
« on: April 07, 2014, 02:39:20 pm »
After learning some new stuff on the last 338 in.  I am wondering about the older saws in this series.

I noticed the 334 used the same intake boot etc, but 335 didnt  ???    Which is older 334 335 ?

What is the difference in the husqvarna 335xpt and the 334t ?  Educate me and others please.

OK found some dates per IPL's on Jack's.

335 XPT (1997-01)
335 XPT (1999-03)
335 XPT (2001-05)
335 XPT California (2001-05)

334 T (2003-05)
334 T (2003-11)
334 T (2004-01)
334 T (2005-03)
334 T (2006-01)
334 T (2006-09)

So it appears in my weee little brain the 334 became the 338.

Just throwing the 338 dates in too.

338 XPT (2003-05)
338 XPT (2003-11)
338 XPT (2004-01)
338 XPT (2005-03)
338 XPT (2006-01)
338 XPT (2006-09)
338 XPT (2010-02)
338 XPT California (2004-08)
338 XPT California (2005-03)
338 XPT California (2006-01)
338 XPT California (2006-09)

Yep, the 335xpt was first, and the 334t was a "lesser" version of the 338xpt - no mystery there!

Then there was the 339xp and the 336 of course - but that's another story....

Thinking the updated  NE New Edition 338 started in 2010. Least the 2010 one I had was. New upgraded edition with increased compression ratio for more rapid acceleration and increased torque.
My 2010 had side tensioner. My older one didnt and was in crankcase.

I believe that happened late 2006 (and likely was the reason for the second 2006 IPL), at the same time as the NE339xp came out. My early 2007 one is a NE.

That would make sense. Good catch on IPL change in 2006.  I seen it but didnt put it together.

My other 338 was 2005 and NE one was 2010.

Sounds like I got one of the last 338xpts California editions   SN: 07  460____

Above the SN is:  965 25 12-00  Can anyone interpret it for me?

It is the "part number" for the powerhead.
