aftermarket? I'd junk it and throw a good one on it before wasting any time trying to fix it. cheaper.
also; did you check the squish before throwing the cylinder on? how tight was it? could be the piston was making more room for itself. tapity tap ;)

i used the base gasket....there was no evidence of the piston hittin the top of the cyl. it ran beauty.....just a defected one
