298XP some good ones still out there
« on: June 08, 2014, 01:29:59 pm »
I fell into a deal I couldn't refuse.  It may need a cylinder, not sure, was told the piston & rings were replaced & still has low compression (90 psi), but the cylinder looked perfect.  I had been on the hunt for one of these big dawgs, Tuesday I can test my arm strength, lol

Sweet!!!  Drooling!!  Nice find.  Reminds me I need to take my 2100CD parts and assemble them.

Great saw.   If you find it to hard for your pulling arm I am still young enough, just pass it my way.  ;D
Nice find.

I do have a question?   What is the difference between the 298XP and the 2100cd.
Are there any parts that interchange with each other.

Yes you are right.  Seeing them side by side says it all.

Very nice saw. Great find! You going to run or flip it?

I plan to keep it.  I have a couple of 36" plus tress that are on a slow death that will need to come down eventually, so hopefully have this ready to go then.  I have sold a few saws, but don't usually buy them with intentions to flip them.  There just seems to be less room under the bench all the time.

Wasn't there some subtle differences in the two saws? (2100, 298) I had some original literature that listed fuel/oil capacities as different, although I thought the cases were the same?
