Looked at IPL. I have the plug for cylinder. Just not the deal below exhaust port.  Dont see any other plug shown for that part.

IPL http://www.husqvarna.com/ddoc/HUSI/HUSI2006_AAaa/HUSI2006_AAaa__5449742-01.pdf

Must be the plug 537180001 They call it protective cap.  ???

Yes, look in the 2006-09 339xp IPL, and it likely will be clearer.

It seems like we used a silicone based (heat resistant) cap and clamp. I had a bunch of that sort of stuff from a guy that does powdercoating and the caps and plugs he uses are heat resistant because of the baking process.

I got some left from car days used for plugging off vacuum in engine area. Maybe?

Yes, but the illustration in the 339xp one is easier to "read".  ;)

Btw, the same parts are listed for deactivating the auto decomp on the 357xps that came with it.

I had found this Service Bulletin for 334 336 338 339 357 earlier too.  I know my 357xp had the auto crap defeated when it was ported.

Willard, another question.  In one of your posts I believe you said you were using .325 chain on your 338XPT.  If so, what source did you use for the sprocket & bar?  Were you able to use a rim sprocket setup.

You may have answered these questions in the post, but unfortunately I am having trouble remembering which forum the post was on or what the thread was titled.

Thanks.
Yep I got my 338 setup with a small spline bore rim and drum with a matching plastic worm gear.. I got the part #s here some where. You can buy them direct from Madsen's in Centralia Wash. Make sure you order the oil pump ring gear too it doesn't come with the rim and drum, bearing  kit.

I assume the parts are the ones listed in the 339xp IPLs, as that is the setup those come with (at least here).
