345 E series Chain stretch???

Hi all, first post
I have a Husky 345 E series. runs fine, can't tighten chain. side mount screw adjuster works fine, takes the bar to the maximum out length, but the chain still too, too loose. 16" bar, and chain says 25. Both original. Can a chain elongate (stretch) that much? Bar in good shape. What is fix? New chain? Take a link out? How to measure chain for out of limits. I do find it amazing that the chain can elongate that much.

Try having a link removed?

But there is likely another problem like your oiler is not working?

Yes, but it takes a lot of stretch/wear to make a 16" chain that long, so make sure the chain is getting enough oil, and the cutters are sharp in the future.

Did this saw come with a rim sprocket setup? If so could the chain be off the rim?

The 345E comes from the factory with a spur sprocket and a full time non adjustable oiler

Make sure that the sprocket isn't badly worn (or broken), and make sure the oil system isn't clogged up.
