Having been around a lot of older chainsaws and ones that have been resurrected from the basket, The bar plate is one of the more neglected parts of the chainsaw often because from chains jumping off in years past. 

I noticed something to keep in mind from reading this thread and that is the flaring of the rails at the tail end of the bar. I know this problem exists on a old, well used, bar but never gave oil loss at the location of the oiler a thought or even made the connection.
We should share what we know... someone may learn...
