It still would be interesting to see how you could measure the bore to 4 1/2"+, as far as I know there isn't a single chainsaw with a bore that large ever made? It sounds more like you measured the outside of the cylinder, corner to corner?

I took a regular tape measure to measure the piston and it came out 2 3/4 inches. I don't have any Idea what or how I got the reading with the calibers.

That still is way too much for the bore (inside diameter) of the cylinder in question (and for the diameter of the piston). The diameter of the piston is a little smaller than the bore of the cylinder.
