I tend to want to think that the Walbro is a better carb. 10 years ago, I tried to do an analysis as to what made me think this way?

At the time, for what I was doing with carbs, the Walbro was better documented.

A lot of that has changed in more recent years.

I have some chainsaws with Zama's that run very well. Any more, I would never consider changing to a Walbro just for the sake of a brand name.

There has been some problems with the Stihl MS 200T  that use one model of the Zama c1Q carb but other than that not many problems .

I have a few Zamas and one thing I learned is when ordering rebuild kits you have to real specific with the numbers .For example a rebuild kit for a Tillotson HS model will cover all the models with few exceptions  .Zama might list 20 carb kits to cover a specific model and they don't interchange, every number has to match.

I've used both brands on the 55 either works well.  I like the Walbro because the WAT kit is cheap and fits a lot of models inc Stihl.  One note the af housing for the Walbro is different than the one for the Zama.  Zama housing will work with Walbro carb.  Walbro housing can be made to work with a little grinding.  The length of carb adj. screws is diff.  Walbro shorter than Zama.
