359 Etech any good?
« on: June 16, 2014, 06:25:52 pm »
I picked up a 2009 359 E tech for dirt cheap, it has some issues. Just wondering if they are any good or worth sticking much money into? I think it has the p.o.s. carb and a cat muffler.

Good 59cc saws.  Worth redoing IMO.  Look for the updates on carbs, intakes, clamps etc. If I get time I will post link here.

Replace the muffler is easiest. Then opening up outlet, removing tube and drilling open cat baffle.

Everything I heard is the Walbro makes more power esp ported saw.  My WP 359 is a hoss most can't believe it runs like it does.  Has Walbro on it.

Most guys round here would rather have a WP 359 than a 357XP.

My impression as well, from what I have been reading trough the years.

Anyway, the first thing to do is getting rid of the cat muffler!

Adam the walbro 175 199 carb IMO is still the way to go if wanting the extra 10% in a cut time for a ported 346 357 359. The zama couldnt feed enough fuel to the better ported saws from testing that the guys were doing. Now if you opened one up like you know how ;).  Maybe?
Zama was fine for stock saws though.

I ported my Uncle's and did the muffler. I can't remember what carb or if it was an Etech but it ran real good and took to porting very well. I still want to get a 357xp and put a 359 top end on it.
