OK Eliott, Mixing Up Some New Dough!
« on: June 10, 2014, 10:25:32 am »
I've got a complete 365XT in the works, if I can work out a price. Saw is like new but broke a chunk out of the piston, and the guy kept running it until it would not run any more. So the saw will need to be completely disassembled, cleaned and new bottom end bearings and seals installed.

I can do this thing several ways:
New OEM stock C/P converted to 372 by altering the transfer port covers.
New OEM stock 372 XPW 51.4 mm C/P.
New AM BBK with Stihl 064 piston.
New AM BBK with Husqvarna 272XP piston.
New AM BBK with Stihl 038 Magnum piston, requires around 0.008-0.010 removed from the cylinder bottom to get good squish with a gasket.

Whatever the P/C choice saw will use the RWJ-4 carb and intake off a 385 and an unlimited coil. Can do either an HD or standard filter setup. All would also get tuned pipe mufflers.

Thanx for this update, Tim.

Juicy idea line-up there.

#2 would hop it up, give the torque and chain speed, chain speed being the key operative phrase here.
And 2 be easier to gear up, I'm thinkin'.

And possibly less expensive, my end. ;)

2 is a good idea but given the cost of XPW C/P $350.00USD may not be a bargain! Chain speed is good but if the saw has no torque when pulling the chain at high speed, well you know. Torque does the work, RPMs make the noise.

I think you mentioned that you already have 60 and 80cc class saws, any of the options would likely be a repeat of what you already have.

You can get that top end for around $225 or so from a better source.
