362XP what to do with it.
« on: April 23, 2014, 05:36:25 pm »
Got a nice mostly complete 362 off the bay for $150. Gilardoni 47mm CP dual transfer jug and piston, needs a new ring other than that C/P are good to go. Big end nice and tight, needs new bearings and seals, I would do that any way. Missing some other stuff clutch and oiler, chain brake, clutch cover, oil breather, top cover, and carb/intake all I have.

Question is what should I do with it? I can put a 372 BB Jug and 064 piston on it, a 372XP top end or leave it alone, putting it back together as a 362.

Opinions please!

The intent here is to build to what the membership thinks will sell on the forum. I have plenty of these saws and thought that since it is a very nice clean saw that it would be fun to build one that the members had a hand in.

They run pretty good the way they came from the factory. Their main point was that they had good power for a 60cc and had excellent fuel economy.

Some of the XP versions ran the D009 bar. The straight 362's had a K095 mount with adjuster inboard in the crankcase.

If it is a small mount early 362xp like I did. I would put it back as a 362xp.   If a large mount later 362 do as you see fit.

There was no "streight 362", all were xp.

The "reintroduced" batch that was sold in the US in 2005 was on the 372xp case, and had the D009 Mount. There are no evidense than any other 362s had that mount - but that doesn't necessarily meand that it didn't happen....

As far as I know, that is what they all came with.

I would rebuild it as a 362.   You could widen the intake and exhaust ports a little and muffler mod it and leave out the base gasket.    That would make a good strong runner and would have the minimum amount of investment in parts.

That would make for a lot easier resale of the saw at a lower price if you so desired.
