The 2163 never had the large tail mount, as production ceased with the small mount 362. The 362 was later "re-introduced" for a short time with the large mount.

Thanks  8), the 2163 info I was always wondering about IF they had a run of large mounts too.

I am on thin ice now, but here we go;

My guess is that those large mount "re-introduced" 362s actually were 372s with the 62cc engine. They were made when the 372xp was (temporarily) out of the catalog in the US.

As far as I know, they were "US only".

When a 362 are compared to a 372 or a Stihl 650 vs 660 are compared, there always will be a market for the smaller displacement saw.

Logging with a saw on a piecework rate  back in the 1980s I found the Jonsered 670 demo I tried burned more fuel then my 630 and the extra time I wasted going back and forth to the fuel can didn't cut me any more wood by the end of the day, only more work walking and messing with oil/ fuel caps.

2063 was the best saw on gas I ever ran. Could fell, limb and junk 2 cords of pulp per tank. If there was ever a saw built for here, the 2063 was it.

Here's my 1998 Husky 362xp, the only pain is the small bar mount since I don't have any
bars to fit it.

Got it cleaned up and running today, and found out a couple good things.

Since it's a 1998 it's got the good walbro carb, and the big opening on the muffler.

Bad new is trying to find a used clutch cover looks like it may be tough, and it needs the top
handle and AV spring that mounts on the cylinder.

I don't like the small mount bar since the 20" bar is 70 drive links so had to make up a chain
special for this saw.

Is there any difference between this and a 372xp except 2 transfers vs. 4 transfers?

Cale you can mod a 372 cover to work. Then you have bar adjuster in cover. Look at it in first page of this thread. It gets you by till you find a good one. Also they can still be bought new.

My small mount bars are 72dl for the husky.  ???  only my poulan small mount ones are 70dl.

Everything is a straight up bolt on. 362xp cyl, 365sp, 372.

Yeah this is a Windsor Speed Tip Small mount 3/8 bar 20" 70 drive links.

Thanks for the info that I can mod the regular cover to work.

Cale IMO if you are expecting 365 special performance from the 362xp you will be disappointed. The 362xp runs great but lacks the torque of 365SP with the quad transfers. 362 is a rpm saw IMO.
My PP415 just handed it to the 362 in back to back cuts with 2 of us running them. I never did compare my PP415 to my best running 365SP though. To late now too, gone gone.  :P
