Here is a husqvarna 362 I built just for fun to compare to my 365 special I built from a box too. The 362 has new oem crankshaft, and oem tank.  Plus I just found new small mount clutch cover to replace the large mount one I converted to duty on small mount saw.

Large mount to work on small mount.

Well being I pulled a bonehead move and forgot to get a small mount clutch cover for the husky 362 and knew I had extra large mount covers that wouldnt fit. I wanted a clutch cover with tensioner in cover in small mount. Which I found out doesnt exist. Only small mount with no tensioner in cover and tensioner in crankcase with front adjust. So I went and modified one today.

You have to elongated the bar stud holes in cover to get correct fitment. Take some metal off bar nut shoulder and some metal off toward the bar adjuster screw to fit the swrench in. Then take the pin coupling nut and grind the head down and make a little narrower around. Put pin coupling nut on upside down to make it fit the slot on the crankcase for the tensioner slot to ride through like normal.

I'm anxious to hear what you think of this saw when you run it. Since you had it apart, you saw what was the distinguishing characteristic of the 362 vs. the 365 and 372. The cylinder has a single transfer port on each side vs. the two per side arrangement on the other two. This saw accelerates quicker than the other two, and easily keeps up until the wood gets larger.

Troll will be in here shortly, (if not before I post this), and point out that you are carrying the same weight but giving up 10cc to the 372, and that's a very valid point. And no doubt why the 362 was such a poor seller. But it's still a pretty fun saw to run. Set up with an 18" bar, it's a pretty quick and nice handling package.

Let us know how she runs!

I had the Jon version. As you say it had a different kind of power. Better suited for our size of wood here. Acceleration made it a blast in the limbs. Thought I needed the extra power of the 371 so I put a 371 topend on it. Changed it back after a month.

If I could get 50 NOS Jon or Husky small tail versions, they would be gone in a week.

This discussion is nudging me towards a project I've been kicking around. The only saw I don't have on this chassis is one of the 62cc models. I could just buy a P&C and convert one of mine, or I could grab a 2165 and build me a new one, as that is the last remaining non-Strato available.

The Jonsered versions were the 2163 weren't they? Were they small and later large mount like the 362.

I have yet to come across a open port 365 to try out. That has to be the 365 everyone picks on, because the close port versions kick butt IMHO for 65cc.

Spike did my job for me!  ;D

The Jonsereds were the 2063 and 2163, corresponding (roughly?) to the original 362xp, and the 362xp Special. The 2163 may have had the side chain adjuster, not really sure? ???

I had the 2063, don't think the 2163 made it here. Never had the 362 at least on the East.

I was comparing the 362xp back and forth with another guy cutting ash for firewood. 362xp and poulan 415 65cc.
The 362xp likes to keep the revs up and had noticeable less torque then the small bore step brother to the  jonsered 2077.

I test ran 362 before winter with no clutch cover  :o (that was dumb move because  I ate chips) and no air dam deflector etc at the time.  Sound didnt work and the year old yellow poplar log was starting to get a little punky. Using RS 3/8.

The 2163 never had the large tail mount, as production ceased with the small mount 362. The 362 was later "re-introduced" for a short time with the large mount.
