61 268 oiler adjustment
« on: April 17, 2014, 11:29:22 am »
This came up yesterday while working on a saw with a friend.  Info straight from the owners manual.

Husqvarna 61 268 oiler adjustment

The oil pump can be adjusted
to give four different oil flow
rates. To adjust the flow rate,
first remove the chain, bar,
clutch cover, centrifugal clutch
and the clutch drum. Using a
screwdriver, adjust the oil flow
rate by turning the adjuster
screw one way or the other.
The projection on the screw
should point towards the
chosen setting. The diagram
shows the setting for flow rate
2.
Recommended settings:
13" and 15" bars
Setting 2
18" bars and longer Setting 3-4
NOTE! Do not carry out this adjustment with the engine running.

I have an old screwdriver that I heated and bent up so it fits under the drum an lets you get at the pump adjustment. Has also been done with a small offset flat blade driver. Done correctly you don't have to pull all the stuff off the saw.

Obviously a good idea, as the placement of the adjustment screw is far from convenient on those saws.  ;D

This adjustment procedure is also the same for the 272XP as well as the 181/281/288 series.

The 268 I worked on yesterday had 4 adjustments. Like in pic above but with 4 at bottom.

After rereading I see it says 4 even though not shown in pic.  longer Setting 3-4
