372 muffler
« on: October 20, 2013, 03:14:29 pm »
I have been looking for a muffler for my 372 xp. I see there are 2 different types. How do I know what one I need or which one is better? There is not a muffler on it now to compare new vs old.

The 372 muffler with the pipe in the corner is the European version and it has some sort of internal baffling.

The North American version has the outlet in the top and there is nothing inside the muffler.

I like the North American style sold by HLSupply. It is economical in price and is very close to OEM. The OEM muffler is around $75

There's a brace that goes on the front of the muffler and HL also sells this muffler with the brace AFAIK

I'm sure that Terry who posted in this thread also, can fix you up with the bracket and maybe even some bolts as well as a muffler too?

The top exit muffler when modded sometimes melts/deforms the top cover. To mitigate this go to an auto parts or speed shop and get some of the adhesive tape used on headers. Cut a piece to fit the underside of the top cover in the area of the muffler.

The top exit 'jungle' muffler is way louder than the pipe version. Something to consider when you need to work al lot with this thing. There is a top exit on my Jonsered 2071 but I ordered a pipe muffler.
