I just sent him this email.  I will keep this thread updated with my progress.

Hi Rich,

I was disappointed to see that the cylinder is an aftermarket, looks like from Bailey's.  It seems to be a lacking in power compared to a regular 372, but I'm guessing the rings aren't fully seated yet(?).  Did Bailey's get that problem with the rings on those kits sorted out?

Since this is a rebuild we're dealing with here, please tell me what else was replaced / rebuilt.

Thank you,
Cameron

Those Chinese rings might take a year to get seated depending on how you use it.

Whereas Caber Italian rings will pretty much be seated after 3 or 4 tanks gas.
We should share what we know... someone may learn...

I'm going to send it back. He should have disclosed that it was an AM rebuild.

+1 on the NWP
+1 on Chinese vs. Caber rings
+1 on the travel limiter
Good for you Cameron, he needs to get the saw back!

Looking closely at the pictures I noticed a few things

1) Given the amount of wear/damage around the limiter pin boss, it appears that the saw has thrown more than 1 chain
2) Due to the amount of dirt on the saw, it looks to me that only the P/C were replaced
3) Muffler appears to have been painted over

And lastly,
How many of you guys would let a saw go to a customer this dirty?

Before you make big buys or get porting done. Dont take the chance if you are just guessing, ask and we will tell you who to stay away from.

That guy in oregon got me once too.

Hey there sorry about you're saw misfortune. Kevin pointed me to this site and said you were looking for an XPW, I have one I can sell, it's not a factory original built XPW, but one I've put together, but it does in fact have the OEM 51.4mm piston and cylinder.   I'll post some pics tonight after work.

On the one you have, you can make that aftermarket one a real runner with some work.

Will

I would (not) have it with that AM top end. Good on ya for sending it back.

Be careful out there especially on the bay!
