Hello Jim.  This will give you an idea what a "woods port" will do for you.  This is a mod that alters the ports inside the cylinder, allowing it to make more power.  The muffler is also modified to breathe easier.  The factory rev-limited coil is replaced with an unlimited one.  Finally, the carb is retuned to accomodate the mods.

I really like a 390. Probably my favorite saw to use for firewood or whatever you want to cut.

Let me try this again.  This is my personal 390 I just ported this week.  I've since done some carb work.  I plan to put a popup in it soon.  I hope to get it in some big wood tomorrow.

I'm looking to put a 390XP in my stable soon. Looks like a real nice saw that would fit a 28" b/c perfectly. I'm running 32" on my 395, 22" on my 372 and now a 16" on my brand new 272XP that I haven't put to work yet. I'm presently using a 346 NE that is sporting a 16" but that toy will be replaced by the 272XP- 16".

I no longer log or cut firewood for a living , just sporatic arborist tree removal work in all different tree sizes. So a modded saw is no importance to me. My stock MS200, muffler modded 338XPT, 372 and 395 cuts lots fast enough for my work.
That 390XP-28" will fit in there perfectly.
Making a living with a saw since age 16.
